Box Score Wilmington, DE- The
Philadelphia University men's basketball team (5-1, 2-0 CACC)
spoiled the Wilmington University Wildcats (2-6, 0-1 CACC)
CACC-opener in a 52-49 road victory. The Rams got a game-high
16 point performance from junior guard Russell
Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall).
The Rams have now won three straight games, all on the road.
PhilaU surged to their biggest lead of the first stanza 31-20 at
the half, and a jumper from senior guard Mike Dunn
(Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) just two minutes into the second
half gave the Rams their largest lead of the game at 35-21.
Dunn finished the night with 10 points and two boards.
A tough WU press helped the Wildcats to a brief 44-42 lead at
4:12 as Kevin Cooper sunk two clutch jump shots.
Ram junior guard Marcus Lemon (Alexandria, VA/
T.C. Williams) banked in a three-pointer on the ensuing play to
take back the PhilaU lead for good 45-44. Lemon dropped in
his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11
rebounds against the 'Cats.
The Rams had another close call with just five seconds left as
WU trailed by just one again, but junior guard Malcolm
Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) made two free
throws to seal the win for PhilaU.
PhilaU also got a strong performance from junior forward
Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/Episcopal Academy) with
seven points, 14 rebounds and three blocks on the night.
The Rams will take a brief respite for final exams before
returning to action on Saturday, December 20th at
Kutztown University at 3:00 p.m.
