Philadelphia, PA- The
Philadelphia University men's soccer team (6-4-2, 2-2 CACC) knocked
in four goals en route to a 4-0 CACC win over the Chestnut Hill
Griffins (1-11-1, 1-5 CACC) on Thursday afternoon. Junior
Svetozar Gladic (Novi Sad, Serbia) knocked in his
team-leading ninth goal of the season in the victory.
The Rams took a 1-0 lead off a goal from senior Rocco
Avallone (Champaign, IL/ Centennial) just 13 minutes into
regulation in the first half-the eventual game-winner, assisted by
sophomore Spencer Reiter (Melbourne, FL/
Satellite). Junior Sean Campbell (Westbury,
NY/ L.I. Lutheran) pushed the lead to 2-0 with a score just four
minutes later.
In the second half, Gladic launched the ball into the back of
the net to go up 3-0- the result of a hard rebound off the CHC
goalie. Freshman Ian Martin (Beachwood,
NJ/Toms River South) rounded out the scoring for the Rams with a
score just five minutes left in the second period to take a 4-0
lead and the win.
Senior goalie Charles Custer (Cinnaminson, NJ/
Cinnaminson) had four saves in goal for the Rams, while Griffin
keeper P.J. Tucker had 13 stops for CHC.
The Rams continue their CACC season on Saturday, October
11th as they host Dominican at 12:00 p.m. at Ravenhill
Field.
