Women's Tennis Knocks Off Goldey Beacom 7-2 in CACC Clash

Wilmington, DE- The Philadelphia University women's tennis team (8-2, 3-0 CACC) pulled out a 7-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Goldey Beacom College (7-2, 3-2 CACC) on Friday afternoon.

In an important conference win for the Lady Rams, GBC won both #1 singles and doubles but that would be all.  Sophomore #2 singles Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Menor) got a 7-5, 6-0 win over Luciana Pereira, and #3 singles freshman Christina Brzozowski (Wallingford, CT/Sacred Heart Academy) defeated Daniela Pereira 6-2, 6-1.

Sophomore Adriana Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio Sagrados Corazones) fell 6-2, 6-4 in #1 singles to Luisiana Souto 6-2, 6-4. 

The Lady Rams also got singles wins from sophomore #4 Stephanie Reinke (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) 6-1, 6-3, freshman #5 Brittany Villa (Logan, NJ/Kingsway Regional) 6-3, 6-1, and freshman #6 Sarah Harris (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles, the #1 team of A. Rodriguez/D. Rodriguez fell 8-6, but Phila U. got wins from #2 Brzozowski/Reinke 8-2 and Villa/A. Dunham 8-6. 

The Lady Rams will host Chestnut Hill at home on Sunday, October 5th at 12:00 p.m at the Abraham J. Salaman '58 Courts.
