Wilmington, DE- The Philadelphia University
volleyball squad (13-9, 8-3 CACC) scored a 3-0 CACC win on the road
against Goldey-Beacom on Thursday night. The event was held in
conjunction with Dig for the Cure, a breast cancer benefit. Senior
Katie Miller (Elkton, MD/ Rising Sun) led the way
for the Lady Rams with a team-high eight kills and 19 digs.
Dig for the Cure is a breast cancer benefit that supports the
Susan G. Komen Foundation. Donations will be accepted for
every dig the team makes during their match. In addition, the
teams wore pink socks, pink ribbons, and pink warm-up t-shirts.
Set scores were 25-16,25-17and 25-14.
The win was the second straight-set win of the season over GBC
for PhilaU, having won an earlier match-up in late September.
The Lady Rams also got solid performances from junior
Celena Rendon (San Antonio, TX/ Tom C. Clark) with
eight kills and 11 digs and senior Lindsay Butler
(DeKalb, IL/ DeKalb) with six kills and three digs.
PhilaU will host both Dominican and University of the Sciences
on Saturday, October 25th at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
