Jimmy Reilly

Jimmy Reilly enters his third season as head men's basketball coach in 2024-25. He was named the fifth head coach in program history in July 2022 after spending 15 years on Naismith Hall of Fame coach Herb Magee’s staff. Reilly also serves as the athletics department’s coordinator of conference events.

During his first two season as the Ram's head coach, Reilly has brought Jefferson to two straight CACC Championship Games, winning the title in his second season and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2020. He coached the Rams to a 23-9 record during the 2023-24 season, In his first campaign, Reilly led his squad to the CACC Championship Game and an 18-12 record. Erik Timko was named two-time CACC Player of the Year, a two-time consensus First Team All-Region honoree, a two-time First Team Academic All-American, and the CACC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year twice in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Timko was also named the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year in 2023-24. Reilly has coached five All-CACC honorees and seven CACC All-Academic members.

In 2024-25, the Rams went 16-13 as they earned a share of the CACC South Division title and make the CACC Tournament for the third straight year under Reilly's regime. He coached two All-CACC players in Justin Hawkins (First Team) and Ashton Miller (Second Team). Jefferson led the nation in free throw percentage (80.9%).

As the top assistant for the Rams' men's basketball program before taking over as head coach, Reilly had a hand in numerous aspects of the program, including game and practice planning, recruiting, scouting, fundraising, alumni relations, community service, logistics, and academic support. Reilly was also responsible for the Rams’ strength and conditioning program, creating a guard development program, on-court instruction, and in-game defensive adjustments.

With Reilly on the coaching staff, Jefferson amassed a 311-123 record for a .717 winning percentage from 2007-22. The Rams recorded 20-plus wins 11 times during the span. Jefferson reached the CACC Championship Game eight times, winning five titles, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament on nine occasions. The Rams were the NCAA East Region runner-up in 2010.

Before coming to Jefferson, Reilly served as an assistant coach at Neumann University for two seasons. With the Knights, he was in charge of scouting, game-plan preparation, recruiting, individual player workouts and in-game defensive adjustments.

From 2003-05, Reilly was an assistant boy’s varsity coach at West Catholic High School. Reilly, who was also the head JV coach, was in charge of scouting and assisted in running summer camps for boys and girls in grades four through nine.

Reilly began his coaching career at Ursinus College, his alma mater. In his two years as an assistant, he was helped with scouting, game-planning, and individual workouts. Reilly also helped give prospective student-athletes tours of the campus.

As a player for the Bears, Reilly was a two-year team captain and the team’s MVP as senior. He led Ursinus in assists during his junior and senior seasons. Reilly graduated from Ursinus in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in communications.
