Norman Patten spent four seasons as head men's and women's tennis coach from 2019-23. Patten joined the Rams after working as a private tennis coach throughout the Philadelphia area.
In his final campaign, Patten led the men to their second straight CACC title and the Rams advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 for the first time in program history. The Jefferson women reached the conference championship for the second year in a row and qualified for their first NCAA Tournament since 2009. Both squads set the school record for victories, with the men going 21-5 and the women posting a 19-5 mark. Patten was chosen the ITA East Region Coach of the Year for men's tennis as well as the CACC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.
Patten guided the Rams to a successful year in 2021-22. The Jefferson men claimed their first CACC Championship since 2009 and second overall. The Rams advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time since 2011. It was the fifth trip to NCAAs in program history. Hubert Theriault garnered CACC Player and Rookie of the Year honors. On the women's side, Jefferson advanced to the CACC final for the first time since 2008.
In his first year (2019-20), Patten guided the women to a 9-8 record and their first trip to the CACC semifinals since 2014. The men's championship spring season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020-21, both the men's and women's teams advanced to the CACC semifinals.
Patten worked as a junior development coach as well as an adult and junior private professional at Tennis Addiction in Exton, Pa. from 2016-18. From 2014-15, he was the junior summer program director, an adult and junior clinic director and a private and group coach at Hecht & Hamlin Tennis Centers at the University of Pennsylvania. Patten is a USTPA and PTR certified coach.
Patten played collegiately at West Chester University from 2014-18. During his senior season, he finished second on the squad with four singles victories. In the fall of 2016, Patten advanced to the championship match of the PSAC Individual Championships. He was a team captain and a SAAC representative during his time with the Golden Rams.
A 2018 graduate of West Chester, Patten majored in business management and business marketing with a minor in international business. He is a senior financial advisor/partner for Platinum Financial Services, LLC.
