Softball Takes Game One; Splits Home Match to Wilmington


PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University softball (13-13, 3-3) competed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action against Wilmington University of Delaware (12-20, 4-4) in Tuesday afternoon action. The Rams took game one 9-2 but fell in game two to the Wildcats 6-0. 

WHAT HAPPENED 
GAME ONE: W, 9-2 

  • The game started with Jefferson down 1-0 with a bunt up the middle. Wilmington kept ahold of their lead for the second inning 

  • The Rams put up four runs in the third as MacKenzie Ward and Alleigh Waskie both had two-run singles through the right side for a 4-1 lead 

  • The Wildcats added a run in the fourth to make the Jefferson lead cut by two runs. Liv Stevens got that back in the bottom of the same inning as she hit it up the middle for a 5-2 lead 

  • The Rams added to it in the fifth as Rozalee Negron had a two-run single to the right field with an error in the outfield. An error and wild pitch put three more runs that made it 9-2 

  • Jefferson went to hold onto the lead and earn the victory 

  • Delaney Alix gets the victory on the mound with a complete game, allowing eight hits and two runs, none earned, on the day

  • Jefferson looked to earn the sweep on the day but fell early as Wilmington put up two runs in the second and continued their attack for the next two innings 

  • An error put a run in the fourth while three more runners made homeplate in the fifth as the Wildcats had a 6-0 lead 

  • Jefferson had runners on third base in the second and fourth inning but could not bring them to homeplate as the Rams fell 6-0 to Wilmington
