Women's Lacrosse Gets First of Season Against Shippensburg
SHIPPENSBURG, PA – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse (1-1) headed on the road to take on Shippensburg University (2-1) in Saturday afternoon non-conference action. The Rams went to take the game over the Raiders 13-9 and secure their first win of the season.
WHAT HAPPENED

Shippensburg jumped out early with two goals in the first four minutes of the contest. Jefferson responded with two of their own by Emily Ryder and Lilly Lutz. After the Raiders put up another goal, the Rams tacked on two more as Iris Gluck and Reagan Rogers secured their shots to the back of the next and got Jefferson up 4-3 after the first quarter

The Raiders went to score three of the next four goals in the second quarter, with Taylor Hood adding the lone Rams' goal during that run, to retake the lead. Lutz added her second goal at the 3:03 mark to tie the game up at 6-6 as they headed into halftime

Jefferson opened the third quarter with two goals early on as Lutz secured her third on the day while Meaghan Avanzato turned the game to an 8-6 advantage for the Rams just five minutes into the second half. Shippensburg responded with two of their own goals to even the game out once more, but I. Gluck earned a hat-trick as she found the back of the net twice in a 2:03 span that gave Jefferson an 10-8 lead heading into the fourth

The Rams put up two more goals early in the fourth quarter to go up 12-8. Lutz put in her fourth shot in the net on the day while Rogers had her second of the game. Shippensburg put another goal in but Rogers sealed it with her third goal on the day with less than a minute to go as Jefferson sealed their first win of the season, taking down Shippensburg 13-9

Lutz scored four goals and assists three of them on the day. I. Gluck and Rogers contributed with a hat trick while Hood, Ryder, and Avanzato had one apiece. I. Gluck and Lindley Gori led the team with 5 draw controls each. Gori tied for first on the team on the day with three caused turnovers alongside Audrey Cashin. FIRST WIN AS A RAM
With this victory, Randy Vite earns her first win as the head coach of the Rams. This also marks her first win at the Division II level, with her 42-26 record coming previously at Division III SUNY New Paltz.
