Women's Basketball Delivers in Second Half; Defeats Georgian Court
 
PHILADELPHIA – After leading by one point at the break, Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (15-7, 9-5) outscores the Lions 48-20 in the second half to help the Rams take down Georgian Court University (6-15, 5-8) 81-52 in Tuesday evening Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • Jefferson and Georgian Court both had it competitive in the first quarter. The Rams had 7-0 run that earned them a seven-point lead while the Lions fought back and trailed by three after the opening 10 minutes
  • Georgian Court outscored Jefferson 18-16 in the second, using a 10-0 run to earn their own seven-point lead over the Rams. Jefferson competed with them to retake the lead at the end of the first half, scoring the final three baskets to be up by one point at the break
  • The Rams took the momentum to their side in the second half as they scored 20+ points in the next two quarters. Emily Spratt had 24 of her career-high 32 points in the third and fourth quarters. Gabby Recinto produced 13 of her 24 points in that same timespan
  • Jefferson shot over 50% from the floor the entire game and got hot from beyond the arc in the fourth, hitting all five of their three pointers in that quarter
  • Tori Nigro dished out nine assists, Carolyn Sipprell grabbed five rebounds, and Jordyn Thomas had four steals for the Rams. Caleigh Sperling, Kylie Mulholland, and Kaci Mikulski each had at least a basket for Jefferson en route to a 81-52 win
  • Niyell McCargo led the way for Georgian Court with 16 points while Imani Gillette and Karissa Smedley joined her in scoring double digits with 13 and 11 respectively
