Women's Basketball Unable to Generate Offense, Downed by Holy Family
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Heading down the highway to compete in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action, the Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (15-9, 9-7) were outpaced by the Tigers as the Rams fell 85-33 to Holy Family University (20-3, 15-0) in Wednesday evening action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Both teams had a three-pointer early on as Skyler Searfoss and Carolyn Sipprell made it from beyond the arc. The Tigers, who are receiving votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll, responded by scoring the next 10 on their way to a 18-7 lead
- The Rams put on their best performance in the second quarter with 13 points. Tori Nigro added five points while Gabby Recinto, Emily Spratt, and Ana Pellecchia all had at least a basket as Jefferson trailed by 15 points at the break
- The Rams were unable to stay on pace with the Tigers in the second half as they were outscored 50-13 in the next two quarters with Jefferson falling 85-33
- Recinto and Nigro contributed with eight points on the night while Spratt had six during the contest
- Taylor Hinkle put up 21 points for Holy Family. Kaelah Carter earned all 15 of her points from beyond the arc, going 5-of-8 from three. Lauren Palangio put up 12 points off the bench for the Tigers
