Women's Lacrosse Heads to CACC Title Game with Second Straight Win Over Wilmington
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse (11-7) went up against Wilmington University of Delaware (13-6) for the second straight season, this time with the chance to appear in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Finals. The Rams had another four-goal lead at halftime and held off the Wildcats comeback as Jefferson went on to win 12-10 and appear in the CACC Finals for the second time in three years.
WHAT HAPPENED

After two goals by CACC Player of the Year Ella Royer and Eden Ward for the Wildcats to go up 3-2, the Rams scored the next five in the second quarter. Taylor Hood started it off with two straight by Modzelewski. Meagahn Avanazato finished it off with two of her own as Jefferson was up 7-3 going to the break

Remembering last weeks game, where the Rams were up 8-4 only to see Wilmington tie it at 12-12 in the fourth, they started the third with a goal by Modzelewski. After a goal by Tristan Holdsworth for the Wildcats, each team went to score two in a row with Avanzato and Lindley Gori getting their shots in the net for the Rams while Holdsworth and Royer had a goal for Wilmington. Hood finished the third with a goal to end the quarter with a 11-6 advantage for Jefferson

Hood opened the fourth with another goal to make it a six-goal lead in favor of the Rams with 14:17 to go. The Wildcats were effective with their shooting, scoring 4 straight goals with six shots, but Jefferson held strong and did not let them cut the lead any closer to end the day with a 12-10 win and return to the CACC Finals

Jefferson will return to the CACC Championship Finals for the second time in three years as the Rams have a rematch of the 2023 CACC Title Game when they go against Dominican University of New York on Sunday, May 4 at 12 p.m. Jefferson suffered their only loss in conference to the Chargers while Dominican's only conference win that was by less than 10 points was to the Rams on April 5.
