Softball Recognizes Seniors on Senior Day Against Dominican
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University softball (7-23, 6-8) took time to honor their seniors on Senior Day before their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against Dominican University of New York (13-22, 8-6). The Rams fell in both contests to the Chargers.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: L, 5-0
- The Chargers got the lead with a single to second base, earning a 1-0 lead over the Rams
- Jefferson had multiple opportunities for a score with runners on-base in the second and third inning, with the bases loaded in the third. The Rams were thwarted by Dominican's pitching
- The Chargers added three runs in the fifth inning off of a one-run and two-run double. A homer in the sixth sealed Dominican's scoring
- Jefferson got a runner on second in the bottom of the seventh, but two grounded out ended game one
- Delaney Alix pitched 4.2 innings, allowing three hits with four runs while striking out five batters. Devin Brandley pitched the final 2.1 innings as she gave up two hits and one run with a strikeout of her own

GAME TWO: L, 6-3
- Dominican started the game like the first, with a one-run single to get ahead 1-0 early on. A one-run double in the second and a sacrifice bunt throwing error in the fourth turned it to a 3-0 contest
- Bridget Shields delivered a run for Jefferson as she hit her first career homerun in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-1
- Chargers put up two rungs in the fifth inning with two one-run singles
- Being down 5-1, Mackenzie Ward hit a two-run single to the right side, traveling all the way to right field as she had Jefferson trail 5-3 after the bottom of the fifth
- Dominican made it a three-run lead with their own homerun in the sixth inning
- The Rams had one hit in the final two innings as they dropped the second game 6-3
- Liv Stevens pitched 4.0 innings, allowing six hits, three runs with two being earned on the day. Lily Hutt pitched 3.0 innings, also allowing six hits and three runs as well while striking out two batters on the day

Jefferson will compete in their second of three straight home contests as they continue CACC action when they go against Georgian Court University on Wednesday, April 16 in a doubleheader. The first pitch is to be thrown at 2:30 p.m.
