Jefferson Comes Up Short Against Mercy in Non-Conference Matchup
PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Jefferson women's lacrosse team (4-6) battled No.23 ranked Mercy University (4-4) in a non-conference contest, falling short 13-11.
WHAT HAPPENED
- First Half: Mercy took control early, scoring multiple goals in quick succession. Jefferson responded with Meaghan Avanzato finding the net off an assist from Gabby Modzelewski, but Mercy's aggressive attack kept the Rams on the defensive.
- Second Half: Jefferson looked to mount a comeback with Lilly Lutz netting back-to-back goals, while Kalyn Ammerlaan made key saves to slow Mercy's momentum. Tied in the beginning of the fourth quarter - the game became a nail biter. However, Mercy capitalized on transition opportunities to maintain their lead.
