Women's Basketball Ends Season in NCAA East Regional


WALTHAM, Mass. - Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball (24-8) came into the NCAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive year looking to work towards another run. The Rams hit a tough matchup early on and ultimately fell to Daemen University (22-7) 70-48 in Friday afternoon action. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

  • Rams got out to a 6-0 lead from scores by Emily Spratt, Emma Kuczynski, and Cassie Murphy. After building their lead up 10-5, Daemen went on a 14-3 run to go into the second ahead of Jefferson 19-15 

  • The Rams pushed back to get as close as two points in the second at the 3:54 mark with a Kaci Mikulski jumper. The Wildcats scored seven of the final nine points during the period as Jefferson went into the break trailing 33-26 

  • Trading baskets in the third, Daemen outscored the Rams 18-13, with a 9-0 run to end the quarter. Murphy nailed her first career three-pointer in the quarter while Spratt, Tori Nigro, and Sam Yencha all had points in the third. The Wildcats went into the fourth ahead 51-39 

  • The Rams made only four shots in the fourth quarter and were outscored 19-9 as Jefferson fell in the first round of the NCAA East Regional Tournament to Daemen 70-48
