Men's Tennis Edges Out #35 Eckerd In Finals Set
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Thomas Jefferson University men's tennis (5-2) earned the doubles point and had a 3-1 lead, but #35 nationally-ranked Eckerd College (7-3) came back to even it out and force the game to the sixth spot.
Enrique Soto Ballester held his own as he took the game to three sets to earn the 4-3 win for the Rams in Tuesday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Jefferson took the first point as Mario Antonio and Filip Slavkovic won the first position 6-2 while Anthony Moukarzel and Soto Ballester earned the second spot 6-4. The Tritons won the third position, but the Rams had the point going into the singles contests
- Batu Ataseven won the first spot for Eckerd, but Jules Thibault and Moukarzel earned the next two points for Jefferson, making it a 3-1 advantage for them
- The Tritons won the next two points from Marshall Hulett's fourth spot victory and Adrian Gheorghe fifth position win to tie it up at 3-3
- Lukas Palla won the first set over Soto Ballester, while the Rams took the second set. The third set saw Soto Ballester win 7-4 and take the team victory 4-3
