Women's Basketball Takes Rivalry Game Over Chestnut Hill
 
PHILADELPHIA – Utilizing a 25-point second quarter as well as pressuring defense helped the Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (11-6, 5-2) as they earned a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South victory over Chestnut Hill College (9-10, 5-2) in Wednesday evening action.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • An even first half for both team with Jefferson squeaking ahead 16-15 in the scoring department. Jefferson went 8-of-20 on the floor while Chestnut Hill was 7-of-19 shooting
  • Points were traded back and forth, with Emily Spratt scoring the first Rams basket. Cassie Murphy added six straight points while Gabby Recinto and Emma Kuczynski hit their shot attempts
  • After a Spratt Jumper, Kuczynski delivered another basket that helped Jefferson hold an early lead heading into the second
  • The Rams began to take the momentum to their side, scoring 25 points in the second quarter
  • Tori Nigro and Spratt had two free throws made while Kuczynski hit her first of three shots from beyond the arc on the day to have it at 23-17. Murphy and Nigro hit their layups while Carolyn Sipprell put three baskets for an 11-point Ram lead
  • Kuczynski hit another three pointer and Nigro made her layup right before the break as Jefferson went into the half up 41-27
  • The Griffins would hold the scoring differential in the third at 15-14, but the Rams refused to let the game get away from them
  • Kuczynski made her third three pointer on the day to begin the second half. Murphy made a jumper to turn the contest in a 19-point lead
  • The Griffins went on a 12-8 run to end the third quarter and trail 55-42. Murphy added six points during that time while Nigro earned the other basket
  • Jefferson continued to run away with the game, having the 15-13 score in the fourth. Murphy put up seven of her 23 points in the fourth. Kuczynski added four and Nigro made two more free throws, helping her to earn a double double with 12 points and 10 assists
  • The Rams walked away their rivalry game 70-55 victory
