PHILADELPHIA – Holding onto a 3-2 lead with both matches in a third set, Antonio Mateos Melenchon got the last point to secure Thomas Jefferson University men's tennis (18-5) a 4-2 NCAA East Regional win over Adelphi University (13-8) to get them to the next round of the NCAA Tournament in Altamonte Springs, Florida on May 21.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
The doubles went in favor of the Rams as Mateso Melenchon and Jules Thibault took the third position win 6-0 while Hannibal Borg and Enrique Solo Ballester picked up the victory in the first position 6-3. Jefferson took the first point as they head into singles.
 
Thibault got the first singles win in the third position 6-1, 6-2 but the Panthers went to tie it up in the first and sixths spots. Mario Antonio held on to the second spot for a 6-2, 6-4 victory, giving Jefferson the advantage heading into the final two matches. Mateos Melenchon and Solo Ballester both went into the third set with each match teetering in favor of Adelphi and Jefferson. Mateos Melenchon, who had a 6-5 advantage in the last set, earned the final point to give the Rams a 4-2 win and clinch them their second consecutive NCAA East Regional victory, getting them back to Round of 16.
