Women's Lacrosse Drops Third Straight Game with 13-7 Defeat to Dominican
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse (4-6, 4-2) suffers their third straight loss on the season as the Rams would drop their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup to Dominican University of New York (9-2, 5-0) 13-7 in Saturday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
The first quarter saw the game be even at 2-2. Erin Avanzato scored the first goal of the game at the 12:14 mark, while Carina Raymond added another one for the Rams at the 6:55 mark. Dominican made the game even twice during that stretch, with a goal after each Jefferson shot made the back of the net.
The Chargers made a strong second quarter, putting up five goals during those 15 minutes. Two made shots for Dominican had the Chargers up 4-2 over the Rams. Lynn Hardy scored with a man up to cut the lead down to one, but Dominican had three goals the rest of the way as they went into the half up 7-3 over Jefferson.
E. Avanzato started the third quarter with two goals, getting the Rams back within one score of Dominican. However, the Chargers pushed their lead back up with four unanswered goals in a 8:39 timespan. Dominican went into the fourth up 11-5.
The Chargers put up two more goals in the last quarter, while Jefferson matched that with E. Avanzato and Raymond having a score during the final period. The Rams were not able to get closer to the Chargers lead, eventually falling to Dominican 13-7.
