Softball Ends Season with Sweep over Chestnut Hill
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Thomas Jefferson University softball team (13-20, 7-15) ended their 2024 campaign with a road game against Chesnut Hill College (3-27, 2-18). The Rams finished the season on a high note, sweeping the Griffins in their doubleheader. Jefferson won game one 12-1 in five innings while beating Chestnut Hill in game two 10-3.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 12-1 (FIVE INNINGS)
Rozalee Negron got the first score for the Rams, getting to homeplate on a wild pitch to earn Jefferson a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The second inning saw the Rams score three more runs. An error on the Griffins let Bridget Shields get to homeplate while Negron's double to right field allowed Sage Bolonski and MacKenzie Ward to earn runs, making it a 4-0 lead.
Jefferson continued their offensive attack, scoring five more runs in the third inning. Shields double to center field to score two runs to begin the third. Cayla Kalani, Sabrina Pastino, and Ellie Egher singles contirbuted to three more runs for a 9-0 advantage. Annalise Pudimott started off the fifth with a single to shortstop for Tori Lipka to score. A fielding error had Negron round the bases for another Ram run. Annie Eliason single got Pudimott to homeplate, adding to Jefferson's lead. Chestnut Hill did have a score in the bottom of the fifth, but the Rams' kept their lead secure to earn the 12-1 victory in five innings.

GAME TWO: W, 10-3
The second game started off strong for both teams, staying scoreless for five innings. The Rams had opportunities in the third and fifth inning to score, having a runner on third in each scenario but could not capitalize. In the sixth, however, Jefferson started to bring in score after score. Victoria Juckniewitz got to homeplate from a third basemen error. A double by Claudia Alldred and a single from Egher got two runs on the board while Bolonski and Smith each delivered a hit for an RBI of their own to make the game 7-0.
Chesnut Hill responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to hold off the constant pressure of Jefferson in the final inning of the year. Alldred had another single RBI, Shields got a run from a Griffins' error, and Smith single split right through the left side for another runner to make homeplate and turn the lead to a 10-1 Rams' advantage. The Griffins put two more runs in the seventh, but Jefferson held strong to end the season with a 10-3 win and sweep Chestnut Hill.
