Softball Takes Both Games in Day Two of Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (4-4) won both of their contests in Fairmont State University (8-3) and Mansfield University (1-1) in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach.
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: W, 4-1 vs FAIRMONT STATE
Jefferson got the early score in the top of the second with Victoria Juckniewitz single that brought Annie Eliason to home plate for the Rams' 1-0 lead. Two more runs were made in the next inning for Jefferson. Eliason pop up out to shortstop allowed Sabrina Pastino to score a run while Annabelle Zito single gave Bridgets time to make home plate, putting the Rams up 3-0.
The Falcons put up a score in the bottom of the third to get within two runs of Jefferson. Pastino delivered a run for Jefferson when she hit a single to right field as Rozalee Negron ran from second base to home plate, making it a 4-1 lead. Fairmont State got as close as second base to score runs, but Annabelle Zito and the outfield held on, not giving up another run for the last four inning to take the first game of the day.

GAME TWO: W, 2-1 vs MANSFIELD
Jefferson put two runs in the first inning, as Pastino singled down the left line got Negron home. During that play, Pastino advanced to third off a throw to home plate. That set her up to score with Shields hitting a single up the middle, making it an early 2-0 lead for Jefferson.
Gianna DeLorenzo allowed only three hits in four innings to keep Mansfield scoreless. The Mountaineers got on the board off a double, getting the runner from first to homeplate and cutting the Rams' lead to one score. Jefferson held onto the lead through the last three innings with only a runner at second threatening the lead throughout that stretch.
