#6/7 Women's Basketball Takes 11th Straight Conference Win As They Beat Bloomfield
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The #6/7 Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (21-1, 11-0) had 32 points in the second quarter that held them through the rest of the game to take their 11th straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory as the Rams ran past Bloomfield University (5-16, 3-8) 94-57 in Saturday afternoon action.
WHAT HAPPENED
Bloomfield had the first four points of the game, but Jefferson took the next seven points with Haley Meinel's scoring five of them early on, helping her to nine in the first quarter. The Bears would get within three points as they made the score 11-8, but Jefferson finished the first with a 7-3 run as Cassie Murphy, Morgan Robinson, and Emma Kuczynski all scored in the final minute and half to go into the second up 19-13.
Jefferson would begin to roll over Bloomfield, scoring 32 points while Bloomfield had 15. The Rams started it off with a 11-2 run, with Murphy scoring four of her eight points in the quarter, Sam Yencha making a pair of free throws, Meinel's fastbreak bucket, and a Emily Keehfuss three to get it at 30-15. Jefferson would keep this momentum going through the period, eventually being up 41-24. After the Bears scored on two baskets, Jefferson would finish the quarter on a 10-0 run that saw Emily Spratt scoring four points as the Rams would head into the break up 51-28.
The Rams would continue their run in the third, outscoring Bloomfield 22-11. Murphy would score 10 of her team-leading 20 points in the quarter. The Bears would have the first four points, including a Taneshia Tucker three, to get within 19. But Meinel would hit a fastbreak and Murphy made both her shots to keep the lead steady for Jefferson. The Rams would go on a 16-7 run for the rest of the third, seeing Kuczynski, Yencha, and Kaya Burkhart all get on the board as Jefferson went into the fourth quarter up 73-39.
The Rams would conclude the game scoring 21 points, with the Bears scoring 18 in the final period. Jordy Thomas would get seven in the final quarter while Robinson had six to help her reach 12 on the day. Tori Nigro had two baskets in the final period, with Yencha and Spratt having two points apiece as Jefferson took the 94-57 win.

APPROACHING MILESTONES
Robinson and Yencha are both approaching milestones in their careers, as they are look to reach 1,000 points this season. They would look to join Meinel, who reached that feat last year, and Murphy, who earned it on December 9, in that club. Yencha has 959 in her career while Robinson is at 958.
