#12/18 Women's Basketball Cruises to 82-68 Victory Over Kutztown


PHILADELPHIA – The #12/18 Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (4-0) celebrated Ram Madness with a non-conference game against Kutztown University (2-3). The Rams maintained control throughout the entire game, finishing it with an 82-68 victory on Saturday afternoon. 

WHAT HAPPENED 

  • The top-two scorers for Jefferson got the first points on the day. Emma Kuczynski hit a three-pointer that routed her to 22 on the day. Cassie Murphy nailed a layup to have a game-high 25 on the day. 

  • The Rams dominated the first quartet with 27 points in the first 10 minutes. Tori Nigro and Emily Spratt put up four and six points in the first respectively. Murphy was 3-of-4 in her shots during the period while Kuczynski finished it off with back-to-back three pointers, making all three of her shots from beyond the arc to lead 27-12 

  • Kutztown kept close with Jefferson in the second, scoring 15 while the Rams had 18 

  • Gabby Recinto nailed a three alongside Kuczynski while Murphy made another basket for the second quarters first 8 points 

  • Kitty Randa had seven points for the Golden Bears in the second, including a three that got Kutztown within 14 points 

  • Kuczynski and Jordyn Thomas made the last two baskets to have Jefferson up in the half 45-27 

  • Both teams had their offense go on a frenzy in the third, with the Rams scoring 23 points while Kutztown had 20 

  • Spratt had six points in the quarter while Recinto made back-to-back baskets for the Rams. Kaya Burkhart was 1-of-2 at the line 

  • Murphy put 9 points in the third to lead the Rams to a 68-47 lead heading into the fourth 

  • The Golden Bears outscored the Rams 21-14 in the fourth, but Jefferson kept their composure as they were able to maintain their lead to the end of the game, winning 82-68 

  • The Rams had their best shooting day on the year, having a 71.1 field goal percentage and was 83.3% from beyond the arc

Jefferson has won 22 consecutive regular season contests, dating back to December 30, 2023. The Rams won 23 straight last season, which included postseason action in the CACC and NCAA Tournaments.
