Overhead Goal Lifts Men's Soccer over New Haven for First Win

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (1-3) had to make adjustments as they would play on Chestnut Hill's field, but they thrived in the different scenery as the Rams would use two goals in the second half to push past the University of New Haven (2-1) to earn their first win of the season in Wednesday afternoon action.

WHAT HAPPENED
The Chargers would get ahead first as they scored two goals in the 22nd and 28th minute as New Haven would go up 2-0. The Rams would cut the lead to one as they would score in just over a minute as Imran Sekagya would kick the ball to the top left corner and make the game 2-1. Both teams would be scoreless through the rest of the first half as they were physical in their defensive matchups. The game would go into the break still 2-1 in favor of New Haven.

The second half would continue the defensive stands between the teams, with no scores appearing for nearly 27 minutes. Eventually the Rams would get the tying score as Rob Arnason would get a pass from Gabe Paz and kick it right in the open spot to make it 2-2 in the 72nd minute. The game seemed like it would end in a tie, but Sean Stackhouse would take a clear attempt and kick it high up in the air. The Chargers goalkeeper was up too close, giving Stackhouse's kick enough air and distance to just bounce into the near and secure a 3-2 win for the Rams.
