BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The third-seeded Thomas Jefferson University women's tennis team (19-5) came up just short of advancing to the Round of 16 on Monday, falling at second-seeded Saint Thomas Aquinas (18-3), 4-3, in the NCAA Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans made quick work of the match at third doubles, winning 6-0. STAC then earned a victory at first doubles, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead. The Rams came back to win the first three singles matches at the top three spots and go ahead 3-1.
Noelle Frenzel,
Nicole Hrbkova, and
Charly Egger earned the victories for Jefferson.
Despite the Rams being just one point from victory, they could not find the clinching win as the Spartans rallied back to take fourth, fifth, and sixth singles in straight sets to seal a spot in the final sixteen.
