BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University softball team (9-15, 4-8 CACC) had its recent woes continue with a pair of CACC losses at Bridgeport (19-16, 9-5 CACC) on Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE – L, 4-2
The Purple Knights took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, scoring on a double followed by an RBI single. Bridgeport added two more runs in the fifth, with one coming home on an error and another on a two-out RBI triple. All four runs were unearned.
The Rams' offense struggled to produce runs, leaving eight runners on base through the first six innings. Jefferson finally broke through in the seventh.
Annie Eliason scored on an error and
Sam Gomez drove in
Julia Heine with a base hit. Down two, the Rams had the bases loaded but a fly out ended the game.

GAME TWO – L, 12-4 (6 inn.)
Both teams scored twice in the opening frame.
Emily Akelaitis singled in a run and
Winnai Hoyt smacked an RBI double to put Jefferson in front, 2-0. However, the Purple Knights answered with an RBI groundout and a steal of home to even the score.
In the second,
Julia Heine and Akelaitis recorded back-to-back RBI singles to put the Rams back on top, 4-2. Bridgeport left the bases loaded in the second and went down in order in the third before rallying for three runs in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead. The Purple Knights continued their new offensive momentum with five runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to end the contest early due to the eight-run rule.
