Lacrosse Pulls Away From Post In Second Half

PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (4-6, 3-1 CACC) outscored visiting Post (3-6, 2-3 CACC), 12-3, in the second half to pull away to a 22-10 victory over the Eagles on Sunday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams were even at two early on before the Rams ended the first quarter with five straight goals to ahead 7-2. Jefferson scored two of the first three tallies in the second to increase its advantage to six (9-3) with 10:59 to go in the half. Post rallied with four goals in a row to close the gap to two (9-7) before Erin Avanzato beat the buzzer with a shot to give the Rams a three-goal cushion at the break.
 
The difference was three (11-8) with 12:10 on the clock in the third quarter. Jefferson pulled away with six consecutive goals, two each by Carina Raymond and Avanzato, and led 17-8 at the 2:50 mark. The Rams went into the fourth with an 18-9 lead and outscored the Eagles, 4-1, in the final period. Jefferson controlled the draws by a 25-10 count during the contest and picked up 24 ground balls compared to Post's 17.
