PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (6-7, 5-2 CACC) outscored visiting Bridgeport (5-6, 4-3 CACC), 18-1, after the first quarter to pull away to a 25-5 victory on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams struck first before the Purple Knights evened the score at the 12:13 mark. Jefferson then went on a 6-1 run to go ahead 7-2 with 2:39 to go in the opening quarter.
Carina Raymond led the stretch with three goals and
Iris Gluck scored twice. Bridgeport potted the last two of the period to trail by three (7-4) entering the second.
After the first, the Rams dominated, netting 13 in a row over the next two quarters to open up a 20-4 lead.
Erin Avanzato scored four goals to lead the way while
Carina Raymond and
Audrey Strock each recorded three. Jefferson allowed just four shots by the Purple Knights over the last three stanzas and had a 22-12 advantage in draw controls for the game.
