Lacrosse Falls At #19 New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (1-3) fell at 19th-ranked New Haven (3-0) by a 15-7 score on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Chargers dominated the draws early and got out to a 3-0 lead within the first five minutes. Audrey Strock found the back of the net for the Rams to make it 3-1 but New Haven followed with four of the next five goals to end the quarter with a 7-2 advantage. The teams alternated goals throughout the second period, with each scoring three, and the Chargers maintained a five-goal cushion (10-5) entering halftime.

Goals were at a premium in the third quarter, as the teams combined to hit the back of the cage just three times. After New Haven scored to make it 11-5, Jefferson received markers from Ellie Lefton and Erin Avanzato to get within four (11-7) heading into the final stanza. The Chargers clamped down defensively in the fourth, shutting out the Rams while netting four goals of their own.
