#11 Women's Basketball Takes Third Straight Win With 84-49 Win Over Shippensburg
 
SHIPPENSBURG, PA – The No. 11 ranked Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team (3-0) headed on the road and was able to cruise to a 84-49 non-conference victory over Shippensburg University (0-3) in Wednesday evening action.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
The Rams would get the pace early and often with an 11-2 run that saw two Haley Meinel shots and a Cassie Murphy and-one conversion to give them the lead. Shippensburg would make three shots in the second that would be followed by a successful Ram bucket, with Emma Kuczynski having two shots in response to the Raiders. The Rams would end the first quarter up 24-12.
 
Jefferson would keep their momentum going, having a 10-2 run early in the second to be ahead 34-14. Sam Yencha would have three of her team leading nine rebounds in this half, nearly earning a double-double as she finished the game with 15 points as she was a perfect 7-for-7 on the floor. The Rams would keep their 20+ lead intact as they headed into the break up 43-21.
 
Jefferson would make the third quarter efficient for themselves, scoring 27 points in the 10 minute span. Yencha, Meinel, Murphy, Kuczynski and Morgan Robinson all had points in the period. The Raiders would have 14 points, but Jefferson would conclude the third still ahead 70-35.
 
The fourth saw both teams be even at 14-14 in points. Kaya Burkhart, Emily Spratt, Emily Keehfuss, and Tori Nigro would have a score for Jefferson as the Rams held the rest of the way to a 84-49 win.
