Women's Soccer Holds Lead Through Second Half, Gets 2-1 Win At Holy Family
PHILADELPHIA – Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (11-2-2, 9-0-1) would go on the road and get two early goals in the contests, holding that lead through the rest of the game as the Rams earned the 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Holy Family University in Tuesday afternoon competition.
WHAT HAPPENED
The Rams started the scoring action early as
Alexa Callahan was able to score from a
Mia Ferrara pass in the 3
rd minute to put Jefferson up 1-0.
Nikki Dedes added to the lead, taking a
Kiery Spatz pass and finding the back of the net at the 8
th minute to get Jefferson an early 2-0 lead with under 10 minutes of the first half. The rest of the period went a lot slower, as neither team would be able to find the net to the break period. Holy Family took eight shots in the first half compared to Jefferson's five, but
Liv Riddel was able to stop three of them to preserve the lead.
The second half would start with the Tigers looking to get back into the matchup. Holy Family would cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal at the 62
nd minute mark. Jefferson would keep ahold of their lead, only allowing four shots in the last 28 minutes of the match to earn another CACC win, staying undefeated in conference play.
