PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (7-3) held off a fourth-quarter rally by visiting Kutztown and defeated the Golden Bears, 13-10, in non-conference action on Friday for the Rams' seventh consecutive win.
GAMEPLAY
Jefferson got off to a strong start, scoring the first five goals of the contest. Kutztown came back with the final two of the first quarter and netted the first of the second period to get within two (5-3).
Ellie Lefton set up
Carina Raymond for a pair of goals to give the Rams a 7-3 advantage with 6:02 on the clock. The Golden Bears ended a seven-minute scoring drought with the final goal of the first half at the 1:09 mark, making it 7-4 at the break.
Jefferson dominated the third quarter, outscoring Kutztown 5-1 and allowing just two shots on goal. Five different Rams found the back of the net during the period. In the fourth,
Lilly Kull picked up her second tally of the game to give Jefferson a 13-5 advantage with 12:59 remaining. The Golden Bears then rallied for five in a row to close to within three (13-10) with 1:23 to go. Kutztown controlled the ensuing draw but was not able to get another shot on goal.
Erin Campbell caused two turnovers in the final minute for Jefferson to seal the victory.
