PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (2-3, 1-0 CACC) outscored Holy Family, 12-2, in the second half to pull away to a 19-4 victory in the conference opener on Tuesday.
GAMEPLAY
The Rams jumped on the Tigers early with a 4-0 first quarter.
Erin Avanzato netted two goals during the period and
Ellie Lefton set up a pair. The two sides traded goals in the second period and the score was 6-2 with under six minutes remaining.
Audrey Strock scored at the 5:44 mark and Jefferson took a 7-2 advantage into halftime.
The Rams got off to a torrid start in the third, potting the first four goals of the quarter, including three in the opening five minutes. Lefton assisted on all four markers, with three of them coming from
Carina Raymond, as Jefferson opened up a nine-goal lead (11-2) with 6:35 on the clock. Both teams scored twice in the last five and change and the score was 13-4 entering the final period. The fourth saw the Rams dominate once again, beating the Tigers 6-0 in the quarter with six different goal-scorers.
