EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team (0-2) suffered an 18-6 setback at sixth-ranked East Stroudsburg on Wednesday.
GAMEPLAY
Both teams netted a goal within the first five minutes. At 8:45, the Warriors scored the first of five in a row in less than four minutes to take a 6-1 lead. The Rams tallied the final goal of the opening quarter then potted the first of the second to get within three (6-3).
ESU scored at 8:57 but
Erin Avanzato picked up her second goal of the day to get the Rams back to a three-goal deficit with 7:38 left. However, the Warriors answered with a 5-0 run to end the period and go ahead 12-4 at the break.
East Stroudsburg continued its momentum to begin the third quarter, registering the first two goals of the frame. Jefferson got those two tallies back on markers by
Audrey Strock and
Carina Raymond but the Rams would not score again the rest of the game. The Warriors had the last four goals of the day and shut out Jefferson in the fourth quarter on the way to the win.
