PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (0-2-1) could not play spoiler to the grand opening of Holy Family's new field on Wednesday, falling to the host Tigers, 1-0, in the conference opener.
 
GAMEPLAY
The Rams recorded the first two shots of the contest in the opening minutes with one being blocked by the Holy Family defense and another stopped by the goalkeeper. The Tigers countered and scored on their first shot of the day in the fourth minute. Holy Family kept up the pressure, outshooting Jefferson 3-1 in the 10 minutes following the goal. The Rams had a late push to end the first half, registering four shots over the last 10 minutes but the keeper turned away two, one was blocked, and another missed wide.
 
The Tigers' defense stifled Jefferson in the second half, not allowing the Rams to get off a shot over the first 35 minutes. Jefferson pressed over the closing 10 minutes in an effort to net the equalizer, tallying three shots but all three were stopped by the HFU goalkeeper.
