PHILADELPHIA - The second-seeded Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team defeated third-seeded Wilmington (Del.), 18-11, in the semifinals of the CACC Tournament on Friday.

The Rams (11-2) advance to the CACC title game on Sunday, May 9 at 1 p.m. Jefferson will travel to Georgian Court to face the top-seeded Lions.

GAMEPLAY
Erin Avanzato gave the Rams the opening goal just 23 seconds into the contest. After the Wildcats tied it,
Madison Caffrey netted back-to-back goals for Jefferson. Wilmington cut it to 3-2 then the Rams scored two in a row again to go ahead 5-2 with 10:20 left in the first half. The teams traded two goals apiece before Caffrey produced her fourth tally of the period at 3:35, giving Jefferson an 8-4 advantage at the break.

The Wildcats got the first goal of the second stanza only 25 seconds in but the Rams responded with three straight for an 11-5 cushion. Avanzato potted two of the three goals. The score was 13-7 when Jefferson found the back of the net twice to increase the margin to eight (15-7), its largest of the game. Wilmington rallied for three of the next four to close the gap to six (16-10) with 7:20 to play.
Kanha Stockford put an end to the Wildcat surge with two consecutive goals at 4:42 and 2:57 respectively.
