PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's lacrosse team scored the final 15 goals of the contest to pull away from Holy Family for a 19-3 conference victory on Thursday. The Rams improved to 8-1 with a 5-0 CACC record.
GAMEPLAY
Erin Eckert started the scoring for Jefferson at the 26:27 mark. The Tigers evened the score two minutes later before the Rams netted two in a row for a 3-1 advantage (15:19). Holy Family got within one just 19 seconds after Jefferson's third goal but
Camryn Sullivan scored to restore a two-goal cushion with 13:52 on the clock. After HFU made it 4-3 with 12:22 left, the Rams ended the half with a 5-0 rally to lead 9-3 at intermission.
Carina Raymond and
Madison Caffrey each scored twice in the stretch.
Jefferson dominated the second half, scoring all 10 goals in the period. The Rams allowed just one shot by the Tigers in the frame. Jefferson had advantages in ground balls (12-7) and draw controls (8-3).
Kelsey Kaplowitz stopped two shots in goal for the Rams over 23:12 and
Melanie Goldstein played the final 36:48.
