CALDWELL, N.J. – The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team used five second-half goals to erase a halftime deficit and pick up a 5-2 victory over host Caldwell on Saturday night. The Rams' second straight win gives them a 2-3 record on the year.
GAMEPLAY
The teams combined for 23 shots in the opening period, 12 of them by Jefferson. While the Rams had a 5-2 advantage in corners, they could not find the back of the net. It was the Cougars who struck first, potting a goal in the 20
th minute on a cross into the box.
Jefferson's effort finally produced success just 58 seconds into the second half.
Geoffrey Little scored off of a throw in before
Glenn Holmes gave the Rams the lead just three minutes later. Holmes booted in a free kick from 25 yards for the 2-1 edge. Holmes picked up his second in the 56
th minute, scoring off of a loose ball 20 yards from the cage.
Little had another successful throw in the 70
th minute, finding
Val Mokrejs who finished for a 4-1 lead. After Caldwell cut it to two in the 71
st minute,
Gabe Paz added an insurance goal in the 89
th with the assist going to
Mohamed Jawara. Jefferson ended the game with a 23-16 shot advantage and 10 corner kicks.
Kris Donaldson stopped eight shots in his season debut.
