Men's Soccer Puts Up Five-Spot In Defeat of Queens (N.Y.)

PHILADELPHIA - The Thomas Jefferson University men's soccer team (4-8-2) dominated Queens (N.Y.) in non-conference action on Wednesday, picking up a 5-1 victory at Ravenhill Field.

GAMEPLAY
Both teams had several opportunities throughout the first half but it was the Rams who struck first in the 39th minute. Kalvin Matischak scored his first goal of the year, finishing a pass from Gabe Paz. Jefferson needed just three minutes to make it a two-goal margin. Liam Stijelja crossed the ball from the left side and Val Mokrejs headed it into the goal.

In the second period, the Rams upped their lead to three in the 55th minute. Mateo Infante sent a long service up the field and Mohamed Jawara took advantage of the defender falling down, beating the goalkeeper one-on-one. The Knights ended the shutout bid in the 68th minute, scoring off of a corner kick.
