Softball Has Season End to Wilmington (Del.) In CACC Tournament

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) softball team (20-27) was eliminated from the CACC Tournament on Saturday morning, dropping a 3-0 decision to Wilmington (Del.). The Wildcats went on to win the conference title with a pair of victories over Georgian Court, 4-2 and 5-4 in nine innings.

GAMEPLAY
It was a pitching duel early as the teams combined for just three baserunners in the first three innings. Wilmington broke through for a pair of runs in the fourth on a two-run double.

In the sixth, Jefferson got the first two batters on base with two singles. However, the Wildcats were able to turn a double play and induce a groundout to end the frame. They then started the bottom half with a home run to make it a 3-0 game. Wilmington retired the Rams in order in the seventh to secure the win. The Wildcats allowed just four hits.

Senior Naomi Stas and junior Breck Urban were named to the All-Tournament Team.

LOOKING FORWARD
The Rams are expected to return 16 players to the 2020 squad. They lose seniors Stephanie Pepper, Erin Maher and Courtney Wensel to graduation.
