Women's Lacrosse Defeats Post, Ends Regular Season on Six-Game Winning Streak

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's lacrosse team (9-7, 8-1 CACC) won its sixth-straight contest on Saturday afternoon with a 25-7 conference victory over the Post Eagles (2-15, 1-8 CACC) to close out the regular season.

Set as the No. 2 seed in the CACC Tournament, the Rams receive a bye in the first round of the conference tournament before playing in the CACC Semifinals next Saturday, April 28.

The Rams scored 16 goals in the first half and nine goals in the second half while holding the Eagles to four and three in each period for a total of seven.

Sophomore Sarah von Lange led the Rams with seven points behind three goals and four assists. The sophomore also won a game-high seven draw controls.

Junior Laura Dunne notched four goals and an assist for a five-point day. Senior Kathryn Avanzato also recorded five points with two goals and three assists.

Sophomore Erin Eckert tied Dunne with a game-high four goals.

Freshman Lexi Patania had three goals and dished out one assist in the effort.

Senior Samantha Ryder and freshman Camryn Sullivan each scored three goals in the win. Ryder won three draw controls while causing two Post turnovers. Sullivan also won six draw controls.

Sophomore Ashley Lamey, freshman Teagan Hay and freshman Lauren Najarian also tallied goals in the win.

Sophomore Victoria Raimondi (W, 9-5) made 10 saves in goal across her 60 minutes of action.

Jefferson won 24 of 34 draw controls and almost doubled up the Eagles on shot, 40-21.

Jefferson jumped out to a 6-0 advantage before going up 16-4 at halftime. The Rams had a player-advantage for the final 43:50 after Post's Julia Thomas was hit with two early yellow cards.

Jefferson Women's Lacrosse now awaits the CACC Semifinals on Saturday, April 28 with an opponent yet to be determined. The contest will be played in Lakewood, N.J. at Georgian Court University.
