RADNOR, Pa. – The Philadelphia University softball team put together one of its best offensive performances of the season in game two of Monday's non-conference doubleheader at Cabrini to earn a split against the Cavaliers. After dropping game one 5-2, Philadelphia bounced back for a 9-0 win in five innings.

GAME TWO
The nine runs scored by Philadelphia in the nightcap, six coming during the fourth, is the second-highest run total of the season. Led by two-hit games from Naomi Stas (Tuckerton, N.J./Pinelands Reg.), Mollie Burrell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area), and Gabrielle Brown (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin, the Rams pounded out 12 hits.

Stephanie Pepper (Toms River, N.J./Central Reg.) was the recipient of the run support and turned in a tremendous performance in the pitching circle, striking out a career-high nine batters and allowing just one hit—a second inning double by Jess Giordano—to earn the complete game win. At the plate, Pepper helped her own cause with a pair of RBI.

Brown opened the scored in the second inning with a two-out single to left field that brought home Burrell, who reached base on a one-out hit. The Rams (7-25-1) tacked on an additional run in the third when Pepper drove in Renee Kakareka (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) with a ground out to the shortstop.

Then in the fourth, Philadelphia recorded five hits and was helped out by three Cabrini errors to score six times and increase its lead to 8-0.

After loading up the bases with a pair of one-out singles and an error, Kakareka drove in the first run of the inning with a ground out to second. The Rams added two more runs on back-to-back errors by the Cavalier infield. Pepper, Burrell, and Mariah Hans (Barrington, N.J./Haddon Heights) followed the errors up with RBI singles to put the Rams up by eight.

Monica Levins (Norristown, Pa./Norristown Area) drove in Philadelphia's ninth run of the contest with a two-out single in the top of the fifth.

Kiley Sharp was the losing pitcher for Cabrini.

GAME ONE
The Cavaliers (9-10) broke open a 1-1 contest with four runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead. Cabrini started the inning with Taylor Mack reaching on an error and Christine Ferraro getting on with a bunt single. Amber Dietrich put Cabrini in front with a base hit to center, scoring Mack. Kaitlyn Cooper increased the margin to four with a three-run home run to left center.

Philadelphia got one run back in the seventh on a two-out error that brought home Kakareka, who doubled to start the frame.

Cabrini took an early 1-0 lead on a two-out double by Emily Smull in the second. The Rams knotted the game up in the fourth on a Gianna Bliss single with two away.

The Rams were outhit by the Cavaliers 8-5. Cooper was 2-for-3 from Cabrini, while five Philadelphia players had one hit each.

Giordano was the winning pitcher, striking out two in a complete-game win. Nicole Triosi (Norristown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) suffered the loss, scattering six hits and allowed four runs—three earned—in 4.0+ innings.

Philadelphia hosts No. 15 West Chester in non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 13 at 3 p.m.
