Box Score PHILADELPHIA – A 5-0 burst in the game's final minute propelled the Philadelphia University women's basketball team to a 60-56 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over the University of the Sciences Tuesday night in Bobby Morgan Arena.
With the game tied at 53, Erin Rafter (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) buried a 16-footer from the left wing, after a feed from Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood), to give Philadelphia (18-6, 14-1 CACC) a two-point lead with a minute to play.
After forcing a turnover on USciences' ensuing possession, Bria Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter)—who finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds—knocked down a pair of free throws to extend the lead to four. Rafter made it a 58-53 cushion with a 1-for-2 trip to the stripe with eight seconds left.
USciences (9-16, 9-7 CACC) did manage to close the gap to 58-56 with a 3-pointer, but Jessica Kaminski (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) salted the game away, hitting two free throws.
Kaminski finished the contest by racking up 10 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Rachel Day (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Arnao added 11 points each.
The Devils had three players in double figures, led by Alex Thomas' game-high 18 points. Megan Wolf posted 17 points, while Micah Morgan contributed 10 points in a reserve role.
Philadelphia returns home to face Nyack in a CACC tilt on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
