Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Philadelphia University men's soccer team put a season-high 11 shots on goal, but was unable to put one in the net in a 1-0 loss to host Molloy in a non-conference match Thursday afternoon at the Skelos Sport Complex.
Philadelphia (3-3-2) controlled the run of play and possession as it took 31 shots, eight off the foot of Ishmaiah Calwrie (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown), at the Molloy net and earned a season-best 11 corner kicks. Meanwhile, Molloy (4-2-0) attempted just eight shots and was awarded one corner kick over the 90 minutes.
The Lions' Mosiah Whyte notched the match's only goal, his fifth of the year, at the 21:47 mark on a set piece that came after a Ram foul. After receiving a pass from Stephen Polimeni, Whyte took a high-arcing shot that bounced into the net to break the scoreless draw.
Philadelphia's Ben Sauer (Bel Air, Md./Perry Hall Christian) made one save, while Molloy's Stephen Tappeto stopped 10 shots.
Philadelphia heads to Caldwell for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.
