Men's tennis falls to Concordia (N.Y.) 5-0 in CACC Tournament

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team closed out its season with a 5-0 loss to No. 6 Concordia (N.Y.) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinal Saturday morning at Chestnut Hill College.

Philadelphia, who was in the Tournament for the first time since 2013, finished the year with an overall record of 10-12.

The top-seeded Clippers are now 17-4 overall and will face No. 34 Chestnut Hill, a 5-0 winner over Post, in the final on Sunday, April 19 at Chestnut Hill.

Philadelphia came close to taking a point at No. 1 doubles, but Concordia's Jui Mao and Ofir Ginat won the final to games to defeat Nicolas Affolter (Freienbach, Switzerland/Kantonsschule Ausserschwz) and Celso de Vera Rehberger (Oviedo, Spain/Santa Maria del Naranco) 9-7.

Affolter finishes the season with a team-high 14 singles wins, while de Vera Rehberger picked up 11 wins. The duo won 12 matches as a doubles team.
