Women's lacrosse falls to Holy Family, 20-10

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team had its season-best three match winning streak snapped with a 20-10 loss to Holy Family in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Tuesday afternoon on Tiger Field.

Corrine Etter (Millville, N.J./Millville) led the Rams (7-7, 4-2 CACC) with three goals and two assists. Kathryn Avanzato (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) had a four-point afternoon with three goals and one assist.

Elizabeth Marrosu (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata), Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area), and Elizabeth Seitzinger (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) added one goal and one assist each.

Holy Family (11-3, 7-0 CACC)—who clinched the top seed for the CACC Tournament with the win—got five first half goals from Paige Settar and three from Brianna Lancetta as it built up a 13-3 halftime lead.

Avanzato scored twice to lead the Rams in the first half, while Etter added one goal.

Philadelphia came out strong in the first 14:50 of the second half, going on a 6-2 surge—capped off by a Samantha Ryder (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) goal—to close the Holy Family lead to 15-9. Etter scored the first two goals of the half, while Avanzato, Marrosu, and Mower added one.

Holy Family came back five of the match's final six goals, including two by Erin Harmer, to close out the match.

Settar finished with seven goals, two assists, and six draw controls for the Tigers. Harmer (four goals, one assist) and Christina Bonomo (two goals, three assists) recorded five points each. Lancetta scored four times.

Grace Deckert was the winning goalie, stopping four shots. Felicia Branagan (Millville, N.J./Millville) suffered the loss. Branagan made seven saves in the opening 23:03.

Holy Family owned a 37-18 shot advantage, 22-8 in the first half.

Philadelphia heads to Chestnut Hill for a CACC match on Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m.
