Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – Attack Lauren Hartman (Sewell, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) and midfielder Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) scored five goals each as the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team picked up a 17-11 Senior Day victory over visiting Mercy Saturday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

Prior to the start of the match, head coach George Chis-Luca and the women's lacrosse program honored the team's five seniors: Allison Brian (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), Allison Cassidy (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside), Elizabeth Marrosu (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata), Kristen Moran (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central), and Hartman.

Hartman—who finished with nine points—played a key role in getting the Rams (7-6) out to a 10-5 halftime lead, scoring three times and recording two assists in a 7-1 surge to erase a 4-3 deficit. After Mercy (5-8) took the lead on Nicole Kleet's second goal of the match at 18:58, Hartman answered with her third goal of the afternoon at 16:38 to tie the match. Samantha Ryder (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) added an unassisted goal 42 seconds later to put the team in front 5-4. Mower, with an assist from Hartman, and Katie Parent (Millville, N.J./Millville) scored 1:09 apart to push the Philadelphia advantage to 8-4 with 11:01 left in the half. Mower and Hartman responded to Kleet's third goals with scores of their own in the final 9:05 to extend the gap to five.

The lead reached a match-high six for the first time when Marrosu found the back of the net just 1:14 into the second half off of a feed from Mower, who tallied seven total points. Mercy came right back with three goals in a row, the first from Keri Watson and the last two by Grace Davidson, to close the Philadelphia cushion to 11-8 with 25:36 to play.

Brian, who scored three times in the match, settled Philadelphia down, scoring two goals in a span of 22 seconds to give the Rams a five-goal lead (13-8) at the 23:25 mark. Mercy clawed back to close to within 14-11 with a 3-1 spurt, getting goals from Davidson, Nicole Kline, and Watson. The Rams didn't break and scored the final three goals of the match to earn the victory—their third in a row. The string of goals came from Mower, Corrine Etter, and Brian.

The Rams took a 3-0 lead 4:51 into the contest with two goals from Hartman and Mower's first of the match. Mercy came back with four in a row, including two from Kleet, to move ahead.

Felicia Branagan (Millville, N.J./Millville) earned the win in relief, stopping six of the 13 shots on goals she faced over the final 44:54. Jillian Rocco took the loss after giving up seven goals on nine shots on goal in the opening 17:50.

Davidson finished with four goals and one assist to lead the Mavericks, while Kleet had a hat trick.

Philadelphia owned a 33-24 shot advantage.

The Rams end the regular season with three straight road matches, starting on Tuesday, April 14 at Holy Family at 4 p.m.
