Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – Guard Bria Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) scored a team-high 13 points as the Philadelphia University women's basketball team had its 20-game home winning streak spanned by 17th-ranked Bloomsburg, 81-63, in the Gallagher Center Thursday evening.

Philadelphia is now 15-4 overall after suffering its home loss since a 75-71 setback to Kutztown on Nov. 16, 2013. The Huskies improve to 18-2 overall, while their winning streak increases to 11.

Forward Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) recorded 12 points and eight rebounds, while guard Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) netted 12 points.

Bloomsburg took control of a tight game, that featured 12 lead changes and 11 ties, outscoring Philadelphia 22-7 over a 6:36 span to move in front 68-53 on a Camden Boehner triple with 6:27 left. During the stretch, the Huskies shot 7-of-12 from the field, while the Rams were 2-of-5 but turned the ball over six times. Maria Simmons scored seven of her game-high 18 points in the surge.

After Bloomsburg opened the contest with the first six points, guard Monica Schacker (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy) got Philadelphia on the board with a 3-pointer and sparked a 9-1 run that gave the Rams a 9-8 advantage. It was the first of eight lead changes that would take place in the first half.

Young drained two free throws with 12:30 left in the half to snap a 15-all tie and give the Rams a half-high 17-15 advantage. Bloomsburg answered back with seven straight points to grab a 24-19 lead on a Boehner basket.

Philadelphia's response was a 6-0 run of its own, finished off with a Rachel Day (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) left-wing jumper, to reclaim a one-point advantage (25-24). The Rams ended the half with an 8-3 run to erase a 32-27 Huskie lead and send the teams to the locker room tied at 35.

Morgan Klunk finished the game with 16 points, thanks to a 9-for-9 night at the free throw line. Boehner and Taylor Maldonado posted 13 points each. Maldonado dished out seven assists.

Bloomsburg shot 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the field and was a perfect 14-of-14 at the charity stripe. Philadelphia hit 43.8 percent (21-of-48) of its attempts.
