Women's basketball runs by Wilmington 87-69

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team went on a 32-7 run over the final 11:48 to come from behind and take out Wilmington (Del.) 87-69 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game Tuesday night in the Gallagher Center.

Philadelphia increases its winning streak to four as it improves to 15-3 overall and 9-2 in the CACC. The Rams are 10-0 in the Gallagher Center this season.

Wilmington falls to 16-6 overall, 4-10 against the conference.

The Rams faced a 60-55 deficit when Tashea Plummer made one free throw at the 12:01 mark. On Philadelphia's ensuing possession, Monica Schacker (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy) knocked down a 3-pointer to start the big push.

Najah Jacobs (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) drained two free throws, as part of her game-high 21 points, with 10:49 left to tie the score at 62. Schacker, who finished with 16 points, put Philadelphia back in the lead (65-62) with her fourth 3-pointer of the evening.

The gap grew to double figures (76-65) on a Tori Arnao (Newtown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) back with 6:44 left.

During the surge, the Rams shot 55.0 percent (11-20) from the field, while holding the Wildcats to 22.2 percent (4-18). Schacker led the offense with 10 points, while Rachel Day (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added eight of her career high 11 points.

Philadelphia opened the contest with a 10-3, capped by an Arnao layup, just 3:44 into the contest. The Rams held the lead until the Wildcats when on a 10-4 second half run to move in front 49-48 on a Cari Callaway triple at the 14:31 mark.

Arnao finished the contest with 13 points and a season-high 20 rebounds, one shy of her career high. Bria Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Prep Charter) added 11 points.

Callaway came off the bench to lead the Wildcats with 19 points, while Tenicia Spence contributed 16 points.

Philadelphia continues its home stand with its final non-conference contest of the season on Thursday, Feb. 5 against Bloomsburg at 6 p.m.
