Box Score

NEWARK, Del. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 double overtime loss to Wilmington (Del.) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Tuesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

The loss snaps Philadelphia's three-match winning streak against Wilmington (Del.), while moving the Rams' record to 5-7 overall, 4-4 against the CACC. The Wildcats to go 7-5 overall, 7-1 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, Nicole Raab (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) opened the scoring with her third goal of the season at 51:33 after getting set free with a long ball played over the top by Carla Chmielewski (Glassboro, N.J./Paul VI). Raab made a long run and then blasted the ball past Kierstyn Williams from the right corner of the penalty area.

The Rams turned up the pressure on the Wildcat defense, getting off four shots in a 3:54 span. The lone shot to go on target came off the foot of Andi Neski (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Ossining) at 81:16, but was stopped by Williams—one of the seven she was credited with.

Then, against the run of play, Wilmington's Loran Wyrough stuffed home a Rebecca Dolhansky crossing pass at the left post with 7:34 left in regulation to tie the score at one.

Neither team scored during the first overtime session with Wilmington attempting the only shot.

Wyrough netted her second goal of the day with 1:33 left to give the Wildcats the win. She scored from the six-yard box thanks to a crossing pass from the right corner from La'Dae Boykin that left Wyrough with an open net for her to shot.

Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made six saves, tying a season high, for the Rams—who owned a 17-13 shot advantage.

Philadelphia heads to LIU Post for a non-conference match on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m.
