Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Victor Chagonda (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George's) recorded a pair of goals to lead the Philadelphia University men's soccer team in a 3-0 non-conference victory over Molloy on Ravenhill Field Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, Philadelphia improves to 5-3-1 overall and moves its unbeaten streak to four, which includes wins in each of the last three matches. The Lions are now 2-5-1.
Chagonda opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a turnaround shot from the penalty spot after receiving a right-wing pass from Jordan Lynch (Brampton, Ontario/St. Marguerite D'Youville).
Seiji Rose took advantage of a Molloy foul from just outside of the penalty area to tack on a 47th-minute insurance goal. Rose blasted a free kick the right corner of the box passed a diving Justin Corke into the upper left corner of the net for his first collegiate goal.
Chagonda struck again in the 53rd minute with his second goal of the match, tying him for the team lead in goals with four. Chagonda was the first to a loose ball after Ishmaiah Calwrie (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown) had his shot blocked by a Molloy defender. Chagonda's shot beat Corke to the near post.
Thomas Attamante (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) was called upon to make one save for his second shutout of the season. Corke made seven stops for the Lions.
Philadelphia outshot Molloy 21-5.
